Back in St Augustine on a mooring ball. Rivah has been back to the vet and the good news is that her infection is gone but the bad news is that her fissure is still draining.
We will be here another 10 days to see if she improves and then ultimately we have to start heading back north.
Meanwhile, the temperature is up to the 70/80s and we have taken the blankets and comforters off the bed. It is finally Florida weather.
We're hanging out on our mooring ball and coming into town each day. Back to our favorite coffee stops for breakfast by the fire. Its still cool in the mornings but hot in the sun in the afternoon.
Anti-Trump protests in St Augustine. There were several hundred, perhaps a thousand, protesters at the St Augustine Fort on 5 Apr. Lots of horn blowers from supporting passing traffic. Even in a red-state, probably near half the people don't agree with him.
We finally matched up schedules with our nephew Johnathan and his son, although his wife is out of town this week. Had a great visit. Crewe has gone from a newborn to a Kindergartener in the last six years we have been cruising to Florida.
We moved up the river to an anchorage spot off Vilano Beach while we wait for Rivah's next vet appointment on the 10th. We have always seen boats anchored here but this is the first time we have tried it out.
Its a short dinghy ride to the town dock then a quick walk to the beach. We didn't realize how convenient it was to reach the beach from this anchorage, plus the Publix along the way. May have to stop here again on future trips.
Farewell to St Augustine, we are off to Fernandina Beach started the trek north today.
We had the hull bottom, prop and thru-hulls cleaned by a diver that comes out to your boat on the mooring ball, so we are ready for a faster trip home now. There was a good deal of slime and grass that grows on the hull in these northern Florida waters.
Should be home before the 1st of May.
