Dowry Creek to Beaufort, NC -Dec 27

Morning after the storm and cold weather and time to get back on the water heading south to warmer climes. Off the dock at 0700. With zero wind and no current, it was not difficult backing out of our assigned slip on the inside and spinning the boat and heading out.

We have a long day ahead of us to get to Beaufort, about 70 miles, and should arrive just about sunset if the currents and weather allows.

Rivah is enjoying the new smells of North Carolina waters. Our new enclosure, with its openings for the genoa sheets, provides her a perfect "sniff hole".  She has been doing great on the trip and is comfortable doing her "business" on the bow on the dog pee rug, as long as the ride isn't too rough.

This time its a sunset shot, looking over the spit of land by the Beaufort Coast Guard station where we anchor. Good protection from the wind and waves here. Temperture was in the 60s today and winds were light. We were able to make the 70 mile trip in 10hrs exactly and dropped the anchor just as the sun was setting over the shoreline.

It was a full day of motoring. Didn't get to sail any in the Pimlico or Neuse Rivers as the winds were light and on the nose.

Looks like a quiet night ahead.
